How to Remove Press-On Nails Without Damaging Your Natural Nails

The right way to remove press-on nails safely — no peeling, no damage. Your natural nails stay healthy and strong for your next set.

The number one mistake people make with press-on nails is peeling them off. We understand the temptation — but peeling damages the top layer of your natural nail and weakens it over time. Here's the right way to remove your ForQueen nails safely.

Method 1: Warm Soapy Water Soak (Recommended)

  1. 1Fill a bowl with warm (not hot) water and add a few drops of dish soap.
  2. 2Soak your nails for 10–15 minutes until you feel the press-ons starting to loosen.
  3. 3Gently wiggle each nail side to side — never pull straight up.
  4. 4If one nail resists, soak for another 5 minutes. Never force it.
  5. 5Once removed, gently buff away any remaining glue with a nail buffer.

Method 2: Cuticle Oil

Apply cuticle oil or any light oil (coconut, olive) generously around the edges of each nail. Let it sit for a few minutes. The oil breaks down the adhesive bond. Then gently lift from the sides with an orange stick.

Method 3: Nail Polish Remover (For Stubborn Glue)

If residue remains after soaking, soak a cotton pad in acetone nail polish remover and hold it against the nail for 30 seconds. The remaining glue should wipe away cleanly. Follow with cuticle oil to restore moisture.

Removing Adhesive Tabs

Adhesive tabs are much gentler to remove. Simply insert an orange stick at the edge and slide gently — they peel away cleanly in seconds without soaking needed.

After Removal: Nail Care

  • Wash hands thoroughly to remove all soap and oil residue
  • Apply cuticle oil to each nail and massage in
  • If nails feel dry, use a hand cream generously
  • Give natural nails a 1–2 day break before your next set if possible

Treated with care, your natural nails will stay strong and healthy through set after set. Your nails deserve the royal treatment — even on removal days. 👑
