Press-on nails have come a long way from the drugstore sets of the past. Today, handcrafted press-on nails like ForQueen's are virtually indistinguishable from a professional salon manicure — and you can put them on yourself in under 15 minutes. Here's exactly how to do it.

What You'll Need

  • Your ForQueen press-on nail set
  • Nail glue (for long-lasting wear) or adhesive tabs (for shorter, gentle wear)
  • Nail file or buffer
  • Cuticle pusher or an orange stick
  • Isopropyl alcohol or nail prep wipe

Step 1: Prep Your Natural Nails

This is the most important step — and the one most people skip. Remove any old polish. Push back your cuticles gently using the orange stick. Lightly buff the surface of each nail to remove shine. This helps the glue or tab adhere properly.

Wipe each nail with isopropyl alcohol to remove oils and dust. Oily nails are the number one reason press-ons fall off early. Skip moisturiser on your hands before application.

Step 2: Choose Your Sizes

Lay out all 10 nails before you start and match each press-on to your natural nail. It should cover your nail from edge to edge without touching your skin. If in doubt, go one size larger — a slightly bigger nail always looks better than one that's too small.

Step 3: Apply the Glue or Tab

For nail glue: apply a thin layer to your natural nail. Less is more — a thick blob of glue will seep out the sides and look messy. For adhesive tabs: peel the backing and press firmly onto your clean natural nail.

Step 4: Press and Hold

Press the ForQueen nail down starting from the cuticle end, pressing towards the tip. Hold firm pressure for 30–60 seconds. Don't rush this step — the bond forms in these first seconds.

Step 5: Finishing Touches

File the edges if needed to smooth any rough spots. Avoid water for at least one hour after application to let the glue fully cure. Your nails are now ready to show off.

Tips for Making Them Last

  • Wear rubber gloves when washing dishes or cleaning
  • Avoid picking at your nails — this breaks the seal
  • Apply a clear top coat every few days
  • Don't use your nails as tools (opening cans, peeling stickers)

With proper prep and care, your ForQueen press-ons can last up to 2 weeks. Wear your crown every day — you've earned it. 👑
